How to get on the front page of Google without tricks and shortcuts

SEO is not about magic. It's about structure, understanding and doing the right things over time.

You don't need 100 blog posts or AI to be successful with SEO

We have no background as SEO experts. Nevertheless, Simmer has ranked on the first page of Google for keywords such as design agency Bergen, Branding Bergen and marketing agency Bergen. How? Not with secret tricks, but by doing the basics properly.

We didn't write a hundred blog posts. We didn't buy links from dubious networks. And we didn't pay an SEO agency. We just took the time to understand what actually works.

Here are eight concrete steps we use and that we know work.

1. One H1 element per page

The H1 field should tell both search engines and users what the page is about. It should be unique per page, clear, and set the tone for the content. Other headings such as H2 and H3 are also important, but only one H1 -- always.

2. Alt texts on images

Alt texts are gold for SEO. They help both users with low vision and Google understand what an image shows. Write simply and naturally, describing the image in ordinary words.

3. Good meta descriptions

Meta descriptions are the first thing people read about you in the search result. You have about 155 signs to convince. Use active language, include relevant keywords and write primarily for humans, not for robots.

4. Structure and content

A good website isn't just pretty. It has structure that makes sense. Use H2 and H3 to break up the content, and make sure the text actually responds to what people are searching for. Avoid filler, be concrete and valuable.

5. Website Speed

Google and most people hate slow web pages. Too heavy images, too many fonts or bad hosting can cost you the top spot. Use tools like PageSpeed Insights to clean up and optimize.

6. Google Search Console and Company Profile

Search Console shows you where you rank and what should be improved. In addition, an up-to-date Google business profile with correct opening hours, reviews and photos can provide free visibility in search results.

7. Blog content that actually answers questions

It's not about write for the sake of writing, but covering search intent. Choose one topic per post, respond well and use keywords smartly but don't overdo it. Write for people, not just for Google.

8. SEO is about trust and consistency

SEO is not a shortcut. It is a long-term work that builds brand, trust and visibility over time. Many people skip the low-hanging fruits, but they are often the ones that produce the best results.
